 Vet Behaviorist

In certain behavioral situations, it is advisable to consult a Veterinary Behaviorist.

Veterinary Behavior is a specialized area within veterinary medicine focused on diagnosing and treating behavioral issues in dogs and cats. Common problems addressed include but are not limited to, aggression toward unfamiliar or familiar individuals, aggression toward other animals (both unfamiliar and household pets), toileting (urinary marking and/or house soiling), separation anxiety, compulsive behaviors, cognitive decline (senility), fears or phobias related to noise or thunderstorms, and other concerning behaviors.

Our top recommendation is Dr. Maggie O'Brien at Southeast Animal Behavior and Training
Miranda, Owner/Trainer works with Dr. Maggie on behavioral modification cases.

 Separation Anxiety

Separation anxiety is a type of panic disorder or phobia that dogs may suffer when they are left alone. If your dog displays signs such as vocalizing (barking, whining, howling), having accidents, being destructive, or harming themselves by excessive licking or chewing, biting the crate bars, or even chewing on walls when left alone, they may be experiencing separation anxiety. This behavior and panic won’t go away on its own, but it is treatable. We do not take true separation anxiety cases.
Please reach out for trainer recommendations.

 Pain in Dogs

Dogs are skilled at concealing their pain; however, a lack of visible signs does not mean they aren't suffering. If you suspect your dog is feeling any discomfort, it's important to have them examined by a veterinarian. Additionally, if your dog suddenly exhibits increased aggression, please consult your vet, as there could be an underlying issue.

 Aiken Pet Rehab

Why Dog Owners Should Consider Rehab: Laser Therapy & Hydrotherapy
Canine rehabilitation therapies like laser therapy and hydrotherapy offer safe, effective ways to support your dog’s recovery, manage pain, and improve mobility—especially after injury, surgery, or in senior pets.
Key Benefits:

  • Laser Therapy: Non-invasive, painless treatment that reduces inflammation and speeds healing. Ideal for arthritis, soft tissue injuries, and post-surgery recovery.

  • Hydrotherapy: Low-impact water exercise (pool or underwater treadmill) builds strength and range of motion without stressing joints. Excellent for recovery, weight loss, and managing chronic conditions.

  • Professional Guidance: Rehab centers offer customized plans under certified veterinary professionals, ensuring your dog receives targeted, safe care.

  • Improved Quality of Life: Regular therapy can reduce pain, increase mobility, and help dogs stay active longer—giving pet owners peace of mind.

Consider rehab if your dog has:

  • Joint or mobility issues

  • Post-surgical needs

  • Chronic pain (like arthritis)

  • Weight or conditioning challenges
